On the 8th November 2022, Years 4, 5 and 6 went to Beckenham Spa for the ISA (Independent Schools Association) Swimming Gala. The pupils were all preparing for this day over the course of 5 weeks.
All the children were very excited when we set off at 7.15am. The drive from school to Beckenham Spa was about forty to forty-five minutes long.
The girls Year 6 butterfly was first. Nobody from Oakhyrst competed in that race but Joseph L competed in the Year 6 boys butterfly and came first out of the whole butterfly boys.
Next was the Year 4 girls front-crawl race. No qualification. Then the boys Year 4 front-crawl. Joshua L qualified. Year 5 race was next. Scarlett K qualified. Year 5 boys. No qualification. Year 6 girls race Daisy H got through to the Nationals. Year 6 boys. No qualification.
After front crawl it was backstroke. Years 4, 5 and 6 competed but unluckily nobody got through.
Breaststroke was tense. Years 4, 5 and 6 competed. Scarlett K, Emily S and Joseph L went through to the Nationals.
Well done to the people who qualified. Thank you to Mrs Cox and Mrs Evans for organising the Oakhyrst pupils. It was a great day and we all had fun.
